Shi Shi Beach, Washington

Shi Shi Beach is one of the most northern beaches on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. The hike originates on the Makah Indian Reservation and requires a permit which can be purchased in Neah Bay at the General Store.  The hike to Point Arches, a mile long parade of sea stacks, is about 8 miles round trip and can be extremely muddy.   If you staying there past sunset and are not camping make sure you have plenty of light (flashlight/headlamp) to make it back in the dark.  The return hike was definitely slow going and cumbersome but well worth the trip.  Here are a few images from the beach near and around Point Arches:
